Storytelling or Storycreating?

Starting August 2021, Matthew began a tenure with Michigan Opera Theatre. With a new Artistic Director, the company primed itself to move into the 21st Century with a new identity. Partnering with Detroit-based Lafayette American’s Scorpion Rose Studio, we unveiled a new look and rename in February 2022 to Detroit Opera in only 6 months!

Matching with the artistic excellence onstage, we reinvigorated the free live radio broadcasts, reaching new audiences throughout the United States and Detroit’s neighbor of Windsor, Canada.

Using multi-faceted storytelling for external communications, Matthew oversaw the exponential growth of the company’s digital footprint on social media leading to new interest garnering local and international attention as well as case studies on transmedia storytelling, and partnerships. Through his technique, Detroit Opera surpassed sales goals and its first sold out operatic performance in years.
